BERLIN, Connecticut – August 30, 2006 – During September and October, The Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P) and Yankee Gas Services Company (Yankee Gas) are sponsoring Energy Expo booths at community events around Connecticut.

The Energy Expos are designed to bring energy awareness to Connecticut residents through informational and educational displays, giveaways and conservation materials. Visitors to the Energy Expos will have an opportunity to purchase energy-efficient light bulbs and lamps at reduced prices and receive information regarding CL&P and Yankee Gas residential energy-efficiency programs. Energy-efficiency programs are funded by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF) and administered by CL&P and The United Illuminating Company.

CL&P and Yankee Gas customer service representatives will also be available to assist customers with online account programs, including e-billing, budget billing, energy assistance and additional services. Visitors to the booths will receive a free energy-efficient light bulb, while supplies last. The fall 2006 Energy Expos schedule is as follows:

The CEEF was created by the Connecticut legislature to promote efficient energy use, help residents and businesses save on their electric bills, promote economic development, reduce electric demand and help reduce air pollution. CL&P and United Illuminating administer the CEEF through conservation programs that serve residential customers, including low- and fixed-income customers, as well as business and municipal customers.
