NATURAL GAS SERVICE IN WEST DANBURY INTERRUPTED
Berlin, Conn., September 25, 2007 -- On Tuesday, September 25, 2007, natural gas equipment malfunctioned at a regulator station in West Danbury causing an interruption of service. The outage has affected about 740 residential and business customers from Lake Avenue north to Ridge Road.
Yankee Gas crews are currently on the scene making repairs to the regulator station. Steps to restore service to the affected customers include:
shutting off all affected customers at the gas meter
opening valves to allow natural gas to flow through the lines
turning on gas meters and relighting appliances for individual customers
Yankee Gas anticipates being able to start the relighting process by 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, and will begin with those customers identified as critical, such as municipal services and health care. Shortly thereafter, additional Yankee Gas personnel from across the state will begin going door-to-door to relight appliances.
Customers can call Yankee Gas at 1-800-989-0900 with any questions. To accommodate customers’ schedules, the company estimates that restoration may continue through Thursday.
