DANIELSON, Conn., November 21, 2001 (NYSE: NU) – Yankee Gas Services Company is beginning nighttime work to complete the Main Street (Route 12) portion of a 7,500-foot replacement gas main installation in Danielson, from Academy Street to Furnace Avenue. Yankee coordinated the switch to a nighttime operation with town officials and the Connecticut Department of Transportation, in an effort to maintain daytime curbside parking access to downtown merchants during the holiday shopping season.

A parking ban will be in effect in Danielson beginning Monday, November 26 through Saturday, December 8, from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m., on the southbound lane of Main Street from Academy Street to Furnace Avenue. Motorists who need to park in the area after 9 p.m. will have access to a municipal parking lot within one-sixth of a mile from the downtown area.

The main replacement project is part of Yankee’s annual program to upgrade its distribution system. The purpose of this program is to constantly improve the system so that gas customers continue to receive the safe, reliable service they expect from Yankee. Businesses or residents along the route of this construction project who wish to convert to natural gas, can call Yankee’s Business Response Center at 1-888-2YANKEE.
