Seminar Focuses on Air Quality in Connecticut Healthcare Facilities
Sandy St. Pierre
BERLIN, Conn., October 28, 2002 (NYSE: NU) –
Yankee Gas Services Company, part of the Northeast Utilities system, will host a special seminar on indoor air quality and its affect on Connecticut hospitals’ patients and staff on November 6, 2002 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. during the Connecticut Association of Healthcare Facilities Conference and Trade Show at the Radisson Inn, Cromwell.
The program, which will feature Yankee Gas Marketing Development Engineer Tim Callahan, will cover issues related to the efficiencies of today’s sophisticated building designs, which result in energy efficient, tightly-sealed facilities. “If not properly heated and cooled, these facilities can accumulate moisture, mold and mildew in basements or patient rooms,” explains Callahan. “And appropriate venting systems are essential to properly ventilate chemicals or air-borne impurities found in laboratories and treatment rooms.”
Seminar participants will learn how improperly sized or inefficient systems, or systems that are not properly cleaned, can result in breathing and eye issues for patients and staff like asthma, sinusitis and retinitus. They will also receive information on various system manufacturers and equipment currently available.
For more information on the seminar or on the issue of indoor air quality, contact Tim Callahan at Yankee Gas, (860) 665-6391, or the Yankee Gas Business Response Center at 1-888-2YANKEE.
