Mary B. Ingarra
BERLIN, Conn., April 15, 2003
Yankee Gas Services Company, part of the Northeast Utilities system, reminds customers that the deadline for applying for energy assistance programs is April 30.
“The last thing we want to do is shut off customers who are having trouble paying their winter heating bills, especially after this winter’s colder-than-normal temperatures,” said Christopher Beschler, vice president of Operations, Yankee Gas. “We want customers to know that there are programs available to prevent a shut off this spring.”
Beschler urged customers with past-due balances that do not qualify for energy assistance to call Yankee Gas at
. Customer Service representatives are available to help customers set up special payment arrangements that are within their budgets.
“Recouping uncollected revenue is our responsibility to help keep rates low for our paying customers,” said Beschler.
