Yankee Gas Sponsors Indoor Air Quality Seminar

BERLIN, Conn., October 1, 2002 (NYSE: NU) – Yankee Gas Services Company, part of the Northeast Utilities system, will sponsor a half-day seminar October 8, 2002 on indoor air quality for the Southeastern Chapter of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC). The seminar, to be held at the Groton Motor Inn from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., focuses on problems in commercial buildings, schools and residences and will feature some of the state’s leading air quality experts, including Ken Foscue, chair of the Connecticut School Indoor Environment Resource Team; luncheon speaker Gil Cormier of Occupational Risk Control Services, Inc.; and Tim Callahan, Marketing Development Engineer, Yankee Gas Services Company.

Seminar topics will include symptoms and complaints related to indoor air quality; case studies; the importance of properly sized and functioning heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for indoor air quality as well as the results of improperly working systems: breathing and eye issues, like asthma, sinusitis and retinitis. Other topics include the resources available from the Department of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency’s “Tools for Schools” program.

In addition to the speakers, representatives from equipment manufacturers Munters, W.W. Rothman, Clover Corporation, GreenTech and Trane will be on hand to talk about the newest equipment technologies and answer participants’ questions.
