Yankee Gas' Callahan Named Secretary of
National Energy Organization

BERLIN, Conn., March 3, 2003 (NYSE: NU) –
Timothy Callahan, marketing development engineer for Yankee Gas Services Company, has been named Secretary of the Technology and Marketing Assessment Forum (TMAF) of the Energy Solutions Center. The Center is a national nonprofit consortium of energy utilities, municipal energy authorities and equipment manufacturers
that brings new, clean, energy-efficient, natural gas-fueled technologies to industrial and commercial businesses as well as residential customers.
“This organization’s work is really important to our economy,” Callahan remarked. “Through their development and promotion of more fuel-efficient energy technologies, the Center helps businesses keep their energy costs down so they can produce their products and services more cost-effectively.
“Some of these technologies have included engine-driven air compressors, large tonnage chillers, small package air conditioning equipment and distributive generation.”
Callahan added, “The Center also focuses on educating energy providers, like Yankee Gas, as well as customers, with technology demonstrations, case studies, training materials and web sites. They really help shape the natural gas market. I am excited about being an officer for the organization.”
At Yankee Gas, Callahan works closely with the architectural and engineering community to promote natural gas-fired technologies and identify ways to save energy through use of these technologies. He has 13 years’ experience with Electrical Distribution and Substation Engineering as well as computerized supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) for nuclear, fossil and hydropower plants. He is a member of
the American Association of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Association of Energy Engineers.
Callahan holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and an MBA from the University of Hartford. He and his wife Linda live in Newington.
