WMECo and NSTAR Crews Headed to Help Restore Power in Vermont

Springfield, Mass. (December 11, 2014) – A total of 30 workers from Western Massachusetts Electric Company and NSTAR left for Vermont earlier today in response to a call for assistance from Green Mountain Power. GMP currently has over 22,000 customers without power as the result of the most recent snow storm to hit New England.

Just two weeks after assisting Northeast Utilities sister company PSNH recover from a severe Thanksgiving storm in New Hampshire, WMECo and NSTAR crews are now headed to help electric customers in the Green Mountain State. This week’s nor’easter blanketed Vermont with heavy, wet snow, leaving customers without power across the GMP service area.

According to GMP, there are more than 1,600 individual locations needing repair as a result of storm damage. The 30 WMECo and NSTAR lineworkers and support staff were dispatched to Vermont this morning from across Massachusetts and will work as long as necessary to help in the restoration effort.

Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECo), a Northeast Utilities company (NYSE:NU), transmits and delivers electricity to 210,000 customers in 59 cities and towns. For more information, please visit our website:
