WMECo Unveils the Company’s Newest and Largest Solar Plant

Springfield, Mass. (June 23, 2014) – Generating up to 3.9 megawatts of electric power from the sun, WMECo’s third solar plant is up and running. All three solar facilities are built on reclaimed land – two on brownfields and now WMECo has put nearly 13,000 solar panels on a capped landfill on Cottage Street in Springfield. Please join us as we celebrate this milestone.

*Editor’s note: Due to environmental sensitivities WMECo will provide transportation to the solar facility. Parking is available on Trumbull Street—off of Cottage Street. A van will meet passengers there and transport them to the site. Set your GPS to 357 Cottage Street, Springfield.
