WMECo Prepares for Long Duration Winter Storm

Company reminds customers to be prepared for storm-related power outages

Springfield, Mass. (March 6, 2013) – WMECo is closely monitoring the winter storm that has already arrived bringing rain and snow showers into the region. The storm dubbed “Saturn” is expected to last 48 hours bringing more rain, snow, and gusty winds, with the brunt of the snow expected Thursday night. WMECo is prepared to safely and quickly respond to possible wind damage and related power outages across its service area.

The potential for power outages comes with any storm. Customers should call 1-877-OK-WMECO to report an outage or contact the company online at

Remember to take precautions, making sure storm kits are stocked and ready in case the power goes out. Some items to include: WMECo also reminds all customer that while back-up emergency generators can be very useful during power outages they can also be dangerous if installed or operated incorrectly.
