BERLIN, Connecticut, October 22, 2009 – To ensure the safety of utility crews working in wooded sections of the electric transmission rights of way during peak hunting season, Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) and Western Massachusetts Electric (WMECO), both Northeast Utilities companies (NYSE: NU), are asking all sportsmen to take extra care while hunting near power line rights of way.
The transmission contractor work crews, who are wearing high-visibility safety vests and hard hats, are involved in land surveying, environmental testing and habitat identification. The result of their work is important to the reliability of the electric transmission network serving all of New England.
