Tree Trimming Scheduled in Winchester
$300,000 project will help improve CL&P system reliability



BERLIN, Conn. - March 9, 2012 - Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) is reminding area residents that tree trimming is under way in Winchester. The $300,000 project is taking place in the Winchester Center area of town including the following roads: Torrington Road, Laurel Way, Platt Hill Road, Taylor Brook Road, Main Street, Wallens Street, Russ Brook Road, Camp Wahnee Road, Blue Street, South Road., Newfield Road, Winchester Road, Grantville Road, Preston Road and Wallens Hill Road.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of June. Trimming is vital to reducing the number of tree-related power outages and improving service reliability for customers of CL&P.

Trees are the number one cause of power outages and regularly scheduled trimming is needed to reduce service interruptions. Trimming is also necessary to provide sufficient working space so line workers can maintain a safe distance from the power lines when repairing them.

Crews from Lewis Tree Service, Inc. are working under the guidance of CL&P Vegetation Management Program Coordinator Kathy Gibson.
