CL&P Reminds Hunters to be Cautious
Before Taking Aim Near Power Lines

BERLIN, Conn. (November 19, 2014) - In addition to providing a path for New England’s electric superhighway, Connecticut Light and Power’s rights-of-way also offer a rich habitat for an abundance of wildlife. While white-tail deer and game birds live in these areas, making them prime locations for hunting, CL&P is reminding hunters to be cautious of utility workers before taking aim this season.

While performing power line maintenance and construction work in these areas on a regular basis, utility workers always wear high-visibility safety clothing and hard hats. However, it’s still critical for hunters to remain vigilant to protect those working on and enjoying these properties.

“We know that our rights-of-way provide great locations for outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking and hunting but we want everyone to be safe while enjoying themselves,” said Bruce J. Bolger, Director of Safety at Northeast Utilities, parent company of CL&P. “Our utility crews work in these wooded-areas, so it’s important that everyone is vigilant and cautious - especially hunters.”
