BRANFORD, Connecticut, May 16, 2002 – As part of The Connecticut Light and Power Company’s (CL&P) continuing efforts to improve service reliability, 7.5 miles of power lines in the town of Branford will undergo enhanced tree work along Brushy Plain Road, Cedar Street, Cherry Hill Road, West Main Street, Hampden Park, Pineview Drive, Fox Bridge Village Road, Stratton Way, Austin Ryder Lane, Montoya Circle, Monticello Drive, East Main Street and Thimble Island Road area. The enhanced tree work will involve the removal of large limbs and trees alongside major electrical lines which feed the CL&P electrical system in Branford. The project will begin in mid-May and is expected to be completed by June.
CL&P’s reliability projects, such as enhanced tree-trimming, increase the ability to deliver electricity that will be necessary to meet today’s growing energy requirements along with the future economic growth of the community. In addition, these programs are designed to prevent electrical outages and minimize the duration of an interruption if one does occur. The trimming also provides sufficient space for line workers to safely perform maintenance or repairs of power lines at night and during inclement weather.
Crews from Lewis Tree Service will be working in Branford under the guidance of Ken Botzek, CL&P New London division arborist.
Prior to performing any tree work, representatives from Lewis Tree Service conduct an inspection and residents will be informed of the intended work. Cards will be left at the door of property owners who are not at home. Residents having questions should contact Ken Botzek directly at (860) 447-5793.
