BERLIN, Conn. – October 6, 2011 –– Local social service providers from hospitals, senior centers, town governments, local assistance programs and religious organizations are invited to attend the 2011 Social Agency Forum on Energy, Wednesday, October 12, beginning at 8 a.m., at the Hilton Mystic, 20 Coogan Boulevard in Mystic.
Sponsored by Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) and Yankee Gas, the forum will provide social service agencies, community-based organizations and public officials with updated information about utility payment plans, services and assistance, including the CL&P and Yankee Gas Matching Payment Programs, credit practices, energy assistance, educational programs, and weatherization programs.

The Social Agency Forum offers utility companies and social services staff an opportunity to strengthen and build relationships to better serve and represent limited- and fixed-income utility customers.
In addition to CL&P and Yankee Gas, representatives from the following organizations are scheduled to be in attendance: Access Agency, Inc., Connecticut Association for Human Services, Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority - Consumer Education Unit, Connecticut Department of Social Services, Connecticut Department of Veterans’ Affairs, 2-1-1/United Way, Operation Fuel, Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, Inc. and the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System.
