BERLIN, Conn. - March 26, 2012 - Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) is reminding area residents that tree trimming around power lines is under way in Plainfield and Sterling. The $1 million project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Affected streets can be found by visiting www.clpbringspower.com and clicking on the “Vegetation Management” link. Trimming is vital to reducing the number of tree-related power outages and improving service reliability for customers of CL&P.
Trees are the number one cause of power outages and regularly scheduled trimming, as well as enhanced trimming in certain areas, is needed to reduce service interruptions. Trimming is also necessary to provide sufficient working space so line workers can maintain a safe distance from the power lines when repairing them. In areas where tree-related outages have been numerous, crews will perform enhanced trimming above and around those power lines.
Crews from Tennett Tree Service are working under the guidance of CL&P Vegetation Management Program Coordinator Steve Child.
Residents who have questions can contact Tony Wilbur of Tennett Tree Service at (860) 423-0895 or CL&P's Steve Child at (860) 665-6165.
