CL&P Strengthens Transmission Network in Manchester

BERLIN, Conn. (September 5, 2012) – To help ensure the reliability of the area’s transmission system, Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) is strengthening its high-voltage transmission lines in Manchester by upgrading wire connections. The company will be using an efficient imploding connector technology that produces stronger connections, saves costs and improves reliability.

This is the second of a two-phase project. The first phase was completed this past spring. The second phase will be done periodically from September 10 - 28, 2012, and will include about 12 implosions during that time period. This work will not interrupt electric service to homes or businesses.

CL&P will be performing this work at two locations on a transmission right-of-way on the west side of Manchester near Burnham Street Extension and Olcott Street. This work will not interrupt electric service to any homes or businesses.

To preview the work, please go to www.transmission-nu.com/SpliceTech, click on Project Information for Customers and click on Technical Innovations.

Customers with questions or concerns related to this work may call CL&P’s Transmission Information Line at 1-800-793-2202.
