BERLIN, Conn. - March 26, 2012 - Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) is reminding area residents that tree trimming will begin April 2 in Weston. The $360,000 project will involve more than 35 percent of CL&P's power lines throughout the town and is expected to be completed by August. Affected streets can be found by visiting www.clpbringspower.com and clicking on the “Vegetation Management” link.
Tree trimming is vital to reducing the number of tree-related power outages and improving service reliability for customers of CL&P. Trees are the number one cause of power outages and regularly scheduled trimming is needed to reduce service interruptions. Trimming is also necessary to provide sufficient working space so line workers can maintain a safe distance from the power lines when repairing them. In areas where tree-related outages have been numerous, crews will perform enhanced trimming above and around those power lines.
Crews from Lewis Tree Service, Inc. are working under the guidance of CL&P Senior Vegetation Management Coordinator Doug Pistawka.
Residents having questions regarding tree trimming can contact Brian Fuegen of Lewis Tree Service, Inc. at (860) 818-3818 or CL&P's Doug Pistawka at (860) 665-6146.
