Additional Tree Trimming Scheduled in Glastonbury
$25,000 project will help improve CL&P system reliability

BERLIN, Conn. - May 1, 2012 - Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) is reminding area residents that another round of tree trimming is scheduled to begin this week in Glastonbury. The $25,000 project is in addition to tree trimming that began in March. Affected streets can be found by visiting www.clpbringspower.com and clicking on the “Vegetation Management” link.

This work is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Trimming is vital to reducing the number of tree-related power outages and improving service reliability for customers of CL&P.

Trees are the number one cause of power outages and regularly scheduled trimming is needed to reduce service interruptions. Trimming is also necessary to provide sufficient working space so line workers can maintain a safe distance from the power lines when repairing them. In areas where tree-related outages have been numerous, crews will perform enhanced trimming above and around those power lines.

Crews from Asplundh Tree Expert Co. are working under the guidance of CL&P Vegetation Management Program Coordinator Susan Stotts.
