Tree Trimming Scheduled in South Windsor
$40,000 project will help improve CL&P system reliability

BERLIN, Conn. - January 16, 2012 - Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) is reminding area residents that tree trimming is scheduled to begin in South Windsor the week of January 30. The $40,000 project is taking place in the vicinity of Governors Highway, Nutmeg Drive, Pleasant Valley Road, Hilton Drive, Ellington Road, Beldon Road, Northview Drive, Chapel Road, Long Hill Street and Burnham Street.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of February. Trimming is vital to reducing the number of tree-related power outages and improving service reliability for customers of CL&P.

Trees are the number one cause of power outages and regularly scheduled trimming is needed to reduce service interruptions. Trimming is also necessary to provide sufficient working space so line workers can maintain a safe distance from the power lines when repairing them.

Crews from Asplundh Tree Expert Co. are working under the guidance of CL&P Senior Vegetation Management Program Coordinator Barry Croke.

Residents having questions can contact South Windsor Tree Warden Karl Reichle at (860) 648-6366 or CL&P's Barry Croke at (860) 665-6149.
