CL&P to Move Large Equipment through Southbury at Night

BERLIN, Conn., August 28, 2012 —Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) will be moving an autotransformer, a large piece of electrical equipment, through Southbury during the night on Wednesday, August 29, or Thursday, August 30, 2012. The new equipment is part of the company’s ongoing effort to improve the reliability of its electric transmission network.

The schedule is weather dependent, and adverse conditions could cause a delay of two or three days. The work involves a police-escorted convoy to begin moving the 196,900-pound piece of equipment sometime between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The move is scheduled for a time when traffic is light, to minimize inconvenience to residents. The convoy route is as follows:

State police will provide traffic control at key points along the route. Parking will be restricted on streets along the route and police will direct motorists around the convoy route as the equipment carrier makes it way up River Road, which should take one to two hours.

Customers with questions or concerns related to this work may call CL&P’s Transmission Information Line at 1-800-793-2202, or send an e-mail to
