Work Strengthens Transmission Network in Manchester
CL&P Continues to Use Imploding Connectors Technology

BERLIN, Conn.-- September 5, 2012 — The Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P), part of Northeast Utilities, is continuing to strengthen its high-voltage transmission network in Manchester, Conn., using an efficient imploding connector technology that allows projects to be completed more quickly.

The cable connection process will provide better reliability of electric service to customers, while reducing overall project costs and improving the performance of the transmission grid in Connecticut and New England.

This is the second of two phases of work. The first phase was conducted this past spring. The second phase will be conducted periodically from September 10 - 28, 2012, and will include about 12 implosions during that time period. This work will not interrupt electric service to homes or businesses.

CL&P will be performing this work at two locations on a transmission right-of-way on the west side of Manchester. The work sites are located near Burnham Street Ext. and Olcott Street.
