WMECo to Conduct Aerial Patrols of Rights of Way
Part of Annual Maintenance Program

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., September 16, 2011 – Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECo) will be conducting an aerial vegetation survey of its rights of way over the western Massachusetts region on Monday, September 19, 2011.

A blue & silver
helicopter (tail number N39MK) will be flying low, patrolling over the following communities:

Agawam, Becket, Blandford, Deerfield, Chicopee, Easthampton, East Longmeadow, Granville, Greenfield, Hinsdale, Lanesborough, Lee, Lenox, Leverett, Longmeadow, Ludlow, Montague, Otis, Pittsfield, Russell, Southwick, Springfield, Southampton, Westfield, West Springfield, and Wilbraham, Mass.; and Enfield, Conn.

The aircraft will be flying at a speed of approximately 50 knots over the transmission lines being surveyed at an altitude of approximately 250 feet. The aircraft may, as necessary, circle over certain areas.

Flights are scheduled to leave from Turners Falls Airport, in the morning at 8 a.m., flying until approximately 3:30 p.m. All flights are weather permitting. Adverse flying conditions will require rescheduling of the flights.
